Federal Indian Law
The firm’s lawyers work to enhance tribal sovereignty
by providing legal counsel in the areas of self-determination,
self-governance, and economic development to federally recognized
Indian tribes and other Indian organizations. We sometimes
serve as general counsel to tribes, handling all of their
legal issues, much as an attorney general or city attorney
would for a state or city. We also represent tribes on specific
individual issues. Our work includes providing advocacy
for tribes in matters before courts and government agencies
such as the National Indian Gaming Commission, the California
Gambling Control Commission, the Bureau of Indian Affairs
and Congress.
